Three years ago I was vacationing on the Island of Abaco in the Bahamas. There are a lot of street dogs aka Bahamian Potcakes that are basically "throw away" dogs. Many dogs are killed or starve on the Island.
While on vacation, I attended a fundraiser for spaying and neutering of potcakes. Many Bahamians don't believe in the practice of spaying or neutering. At the afternoon tea, there were two potcake puppies available for adoption.
Their mother, a feral potcake, had dropped off 2 of her 4 puppies at a human's house. One of those puppies was Duncan, the Bahamian Potcake I adopted.
Duncan loves his new life in Novato, CA where he shares his home with a golden retriever, a yellow lab "change of career guide dog", his 16 year old human brother and his human mom and dad.
