Woman Allegedly Tortured Child And Made Him Shoot A Man

According to a report from Granite Broadcasting sister station Indiana's NewsCenter in Fort Wayne, Ind., a woman is in jail after being indicted by a grand jury for the 2003 shooting death of her then-husband.

According to the report from Indiana's NewsCenter:

Robert Breining was killed in what was thought to be an accidental shooting by a 10-year-old boy. At the time of the incident in 2003, police were called to the home on Kyle St. in Mark Center where they found the body of Breining in the bedroom of the home.

At the time, the shooting was ruled an accident, but new evidence has encouraged prosecutors to allege that his then wife, Judith Hawkey, made her 10-year-old son shoot Breining.

Hawkey is charged with a total of six counts, aggravated murder, insurance fraud and four counts of endangering children. Over a three to four year period, she allegedly tortured and cruelly abused a child between the ages of seven and 10.
