Look out Below: Sinkhole Swallows Golfer
A golfer in southern Illinois golfer is nursing a dislocated shoulder after being rescued from a 18-foot-deep sinkhole, according to a report from Granite Broadcasting sister station CINewsNow.com in Peoria, Ill.
According to the report from CINewsNow: A 43-year-old man was at the 14th hole of the Annbriar Golf Club near Waterloo, Illinois Friday when he was sucked into the ground. After about 20 minutes, the man was rescued from the sinkhole, with minor injuries. According to the Illinois State Geological Survey, sinkholes are common to Illinois' southwestern region, where limestone can dissolve from rainwater, snow-melt and carbon dioxide. The Golf Club said this is the first time a person, and not a ball, has disappeared beneath the turf in the course's 20 year history. Most Popular
